Jordan VanDeGejuchte – Spring 2016 Post Reflection (Nashville)

I am so glad I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Nashville Rescue Mission for my alternative break trip. My experiences at Austin Peay prepared me for this trip because I have gotten to know many people through my classes who come from different backgrounds than my own. Having met other people who differ from me, I am more open and eager to hear about the lives of others.

Through our work at the Nashville Rescue Mission I was able to get to know people better who have been in situations that I have never experienced, and it allows me to learn more about the opportunities and struggles that other people face in their lives. In the future, this insight will allow me to better connect with people who have experiences that differ from my own.
