Ann Madden – Winter 2016 Post Reflection (Gainesville)

The trip to Jungle Friends in Gainesville, Florida was the best experience ever. My prior experience volunteering prepared me for the hardwork. The student organizations that I am a part of helped to work well with a group. It is always satisfying to be able to come together with a group of people, with all kinds of backgrounds, to accomplish something for a good cause. However, all of my previous experience did not prepare me for the selfless awesome people that work at Jungle Friends. Not only do they work endlessly to take care of the monkeys in their care, they went above all my expectations in their treatment of us. Every staff member took the time to make sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable. Even more amazing was the time they spent teaching us the ends and outs of their jobs. It was great and I would do it again. It gave me the chance to understand how difficult but wonderful their job is. This experience will also help me in the future to lead better. I will also be able to take some of the things I learned about the behavior of the primates to my classes. I can not say enough about how grateful I am for this opportunity.
